Gifted Programme

Aim

  • To nurture outstanding students in the region and develop a good foundation for students’ future.

Target

  • The top 20s P.5 students, having good results in English/Mathematics, and recommended by the Class Master/Mistress.

Content

  • A school-based gifted programme which lasts for 1-2 years and is designed by experienced subject panels or teachers.
  • The content connects the syllabus of primary school and secondary school
  • The first part which starts in P6, focuses on English, Maths and Science, and covers training in experiments, problem-solving, logic and creativity.
  • Teachers will recommend students to take international public exams in Mathematics, Science or English (ICAS/ Cambridge YLE)
  • Course fee is exempted and students pay only 50% of Exam Fee.

*Students who get a Distinction in ICAS/13 Shields or above in Cambridge YLE, will be entitled to a refund of the exam fee as a reward.

Tung Teens Potential Development Subsidy Scheme

Aim

  • To subsidise students to take part in different learning experiences and leadership training programmes in order to cultivate more leaders to Hong Kong society.
  • To encourage different departments to look for potential students and develop their interests so they can be role models for others.
  • Offer opportunities for students to contribute to TCCS by applying what they have learnt.

Target

  • S1-S6 students

Content

  • A maximum of 20 students are entitled to the subsidy each year with a maximum amount of $60000 for all.
  • The amount of subsidy depends on the funding amount of that year and the content of the course/training (The upper limit for individual subsidy can be up to 80% of the course fee. Subsidies are decided by the funding committee)
  • Interested candidates can apply in the period between October and May every academic year. Students can apply for the courses, training and learning experience of the current year or the next academic year. All interested candidates must be students in TCCS at the time of applying for the subsidy.
  • Students can actively seek recommendations from teachers in the related area when applying for the scheme. Interested candidates must submit a proposal stating the schedule of personal development and the plan on how to contribute to the school (with service hours not less than 8 hours). Interested candidates should obtain advice from teachers on the proposal before they submit their application. The service they may consider provided includes being a teaching assistant for school training teams or a school club.
  • The approved subsidy will be effective for 12 months.

Through-Train Academic Scholarship

Aim

  • To facilitate students progress to the secondary section so as to fulfil the Through-train education concept and to reward achievement.

Target

  • Students who rank in the top 15 in P5 and P6.

Content

  • Academic Scholarship and Award on Learning Experience.
  • The top three students can choose to participate in one overseas study tour organized by the school.

Remarks

  • Students are eligible if they rank in the top 15 according to the academic performance in primary 5 or 6. Also, they must be promoted to the secondary section of TCCS.
  • All qualified students are ranked based on their overall academic performance in both primary 5 and 6.
  • This Academic Scholarship will be deposited into the e-class account of students in phases. A maximum of HK$1000 will be deposited each year.
  • The “Award for Learning Experience” allows students to participate in the overseas learning activities twice in their secondary school life.
  • There is no replacement mechanism if any student gives up the shcolarship.

Remarks

❖ All “Academic Scholarship” will be deposited into the scholarship account of students. It can be used to pay for the fees at school such as textbook fee or outdoor learning activities fee.

❖ Students can get the remaining cash of the “Academic Scholarship” after graduating from senior school. If students drop out of school, they forfeit the scholarship as well as the “Award on Learning Experience”.

❖ “Award on Learning Experience” (S1-S5) can only be used to participate in other learning experience activities like overseas learning activities or paid activities, held or co-orgainsed by TCCS.

❖ “Award on Learning Experience” (S6) can use to pay the enrolment deposit or school fee if they are admitted to Hong Kong local tertiary institutions.

DSE Results Award

Aim

To appreciate the persevering pursuit of academic excellence of S6 students and to encourage senior students to continue working hard to obtain good academic results.

Target

Current TCCS students who will take the DSE exams

Prizes

  1. Cash prize $1000 for admission to Hong Kong local universities at Level 5 Quality Framework (e.g. bachelor’s degree) OR cash prize $500 for admission Hong Kong local universities at Level 4 Quality Framework (e.g. associate degree, higher diploma)

  2. Cash prize $1000 for each subject at Level 5* or 5**; $500 for each subject at Level 5.

Aim

  • To arouse students’learning motivation through accumulating successful experience. To encourage students to develop their full potential through their contribution and ability.

Learning Support Subsidy Scheme

Aim

  • In light of the policies of the Education Bureau, the school provides financial assistance for financially needy students to participate in various extra-curriculum activities.
  • Through these activities, students are expected to better their academic achievement, widen their vision, gain a thorough insight of society and ultimately advance in their whole person development.

Target

  • Students of the school whose families are receiving financial assistance(Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA), full grant or half grant of School Textbook Assistance)

Subsidised activities

  • Activities held by the school or jointly held by the school (e.g. tuition class, extra-curricular interest class, leadership training, volunteer service, visitation activities, etc)
  • Coverage of financial assistance: camp charge, tuition fee, assessment fee, entrance fee, expense of items related to learning.

Subsidised Amount

  • Each eligible student receives a subsidy of no more than $3,000.
  • The maximum subsidy will not be more than the total fee for each of the activity.

The Life-Wide Learning Fund

Aim

  • This is to support financially needy students to participate in various life-wide learning activities beyond daily school learning to develop their potential.

Subsidised activities

  • The first priority will be given to offshore study tours organized by or jointly organized by the school.
  • Coverage of financial assistance: camp charge, tuition fee, assessment fee, entrance fee, expense of items related to learning.

Subsidised Amount

  • Each eligible student can only apply for the subsidy once.
  • The amount of subsidy depends on the amount received from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Life-wide Learning Fund and the number of applicants.
  • The maximum subsidy will not be more than the total fee for each of the activities.
